Energy infrastructure under attack in the region
The country's energy systems have faced escalating attacks in recent weeks

During the night, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have led to electricity outages in large parts of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were injured while inhabitants in eastern districts were plunged into darkness and faced problems to water supplies, per reports from city officials.

Meanwhile, a young boy was killed in a distinct Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia area in the country's south-east, according to regional authorities.

Russian forces has escalated attacks on electrical systems over the last fortnight, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "concrete actions" from allies to exert influence on Russia.

"The necessity is not superficial actions but decisive action - from the US, Europe and the major economies - in delivering defensive weapons and implementing restrictions," was stated in a online statement.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and over thirty missiles attacked the country's power systems, characterizing such strikes as "cynical and calculated" and against "critical infrastructure" as the weather cools.

Energy officials said Moscow was "inflicting a massive strike" and repair crews were striving to fix the damage.

A barrage of missiles hit electrical systems and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people hurt in the attacks on the city have been transported for medical care, per statements from local officials.
